Higher Education

The University of Connecticut Waterbury Campus has recently moved its 97,000 square foot campus downtown to East Main Street. The new facility opened for the fall semester of 2003 and features four-year degrees as well as a Master's program.

The Waterbury Development Corporation is the premier economic development agency servicing the City of Waterbury. WDC provides direct business financing as well as recommends technical assistance providers, financial counseling and site selection information.

Western Connecticut State University - Waterbury is located on the campus of Naugatuck Valley Community College. It offers a convenient location for students in the Greater Waterbury area to take the same academic programs in Waterbury as those offered in Danbury, so Western students may take classes at both locations. All courses are conveniently scheduled to accommodate working students, and are taught by Western's faculty members.

Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) is located at 750 Chase Parkway. NVCC offers courses that lead to associate degrees and certificates, special programs that can assist with career change, and lifelong learning opportunities for personal and professional development. The University of Bridgeport - Waterbury Campus offers the M.S. in Education Teaching Internship program. More than 300 certified teachers have attended courses at the University in Waterbury. The majority of students attend classes part-time while employed in schools throughout Connecticut.
